Leading luxury apartment developer Crown Group will bring its award-winning vision and design ethos to Brisbane for the first time when it launches its West End residential project in late 2020 to coincide with the Queen’s Wharf redevelopment.

Crown Group Chief Operating Officer Pierre Abrahamse said the new timeline would allow for demand in the Brisbane market to catch up with supply, while allowing for current West End tenant Queensland Ballet to move into its redeveloped headquarters at the Thomas Dixon Centre in nearby Montague Road.

The latest findings from economic forecaster BIS Oxford Economics anticipate Brisbane’s median house price could rise by 20 per cent over the three years to June 2022, and unit prices to grow 14 per cent.

“Brisbane is showing the healthiest growth of any of the major markets in Australia, and given that construction has started on the Queens Wharf project, bringing billions of dollars’ worth of construction and thousands of jobs, we see a very bright future for the residential market in the city,” Mr Abrahamse said.

The new West End luxury apartment development is designed by renowned architectural firm Francis-Jones Morehen Thorp (fjmt) to create a living garden lifestyle that brings alive its riverfront setting and Brisbane’s glorious climate. An amended design creates four 12-storey structures over a common podium, allowing more landscaped walkways that connect with the riverfront public land. The new design also includes 4200sqm of communal open space.

Crown Group is renowned for premium apartment projects that have set new design benchmarks in Sydney. It has four ground-breaking new projects underway in Waterloo, Green Square and Eastlakes, just a few kilometres from the city and airport. The developer has become globally recognised with the iconic Arc by Crown Group and Infinity by Crown Group, designed by Koichi Takada Architects.

The West End development will be Crown Group’s first in Queensland, with 455 spacious and beautifully designed luxury apartments set on 1.25ha of prime waterfront land at 117 Victoria Street in the rapidly redeveloping suburb of West End. There will be a mix of studio, one, two and three-bedroom apartments, as well as terraces and four-bedroom penthouses.

Elegant living spaces encircle an elevated garden that leads down to the riverfront. Crown Group’s signature resort-style facilities include a 25m pool, cabana and poolside lounges, barbecue facilities, gym and plenty of breakout spaces for yoga and relaxation. There will be a common area for residents to enjoy a rooftop spa and water feature. Rooftop terraces will give residents access to a spa facility and additional entertaining and breakout spaces.

Mr Abrahamse said the beautifully designed West End apartments would offer residents and investors a point of difference to other projects in Brisbane and an opportunity to embrace its attractive, sunny lifestyle.

“A strong focus of the design is to make the Brisbane River the star of the show and offer a new level of luxury to the Brisbane market,” he said. “Each apartment is designed around having the best access to the waterfront. It will be the most exciting new development in Brisbane and one that people are vying to live in for years to come.”

Architect Richard Francis-Jones said the design would offer a unique riverfront garden lifestyle and an intimacy with the natural landscape. A foreground of private gardens and terraces would flow seamlessly into a rich landscape of exotic plants and reflection pools that blend visually into the Brisbane River.

“The design has an organic style of architecture that is riverside-inspired,” he said. “There will be plenty of shared garden areas and private terraces. The residential towers are tall and slender forms that rise and bring to life the views – the natural river landscape, the lagoons and pools, river gums and tropical plant life.”

Mr Francis-Jones said the apartments were oriented to make the most of Brisbane’s subtropical climate and the beautiful views over the river towards the mountain Hinterland or city.

“The gentle forms of the rotated balconies, the deep verandas and the screens also offer privacy and create a sense of peace and a response to the natural landscape,” he said. “The materials we’ve chosen, with timber-like screens inspired by the Brisbane river reeds, combined with polished metal and precision detail, create a sense of enduring luxury and comfort.”
