Perhimpunan Pelajar Indonesia di Australia (PPIA) VIC is excited to announce the upcoming ‘Alun Alun’ Night Market Festival, a vibrant Indonesian-themed extravaganza showcasing the rich tapestry of Indonesian culture. Taking place on 28-29 July 2023 at the historic Old Melbourne Gaol, this event aims to welcome Indonesian students and the community to Victoria.

‘Alun Alun’ drew over 3000 attendees last year, including Indonesian students, local citizens, and enthusiasts of Indonesian culture. This year’s two-day night market will immerse attendees in the lively themes of “Keep it Koplo” and “Malam Minggu,” evoking the enchanting ambience of Jakarta’s historic Kota Tua with the overarching theme of “Kelap Kelip Kota Tua.”

With a variety of engaging activities, culinary adventures, and attractions, ‘Alun Alun’ offers a unique opportunity to explore the diverse facets of Indonesian heritage. Day 1 will feature a special guest star Feel Koplo, a popular Indonesian musical band, bringing a delightful blend of Indonesian music to Melbourne.

Beyond its cultural offerings, ‘Alun Alun’ fosters a sense of community and inclusivity, inviting local residents to embrace the rich tapestry of Indonesian heritage and forge new friendships. Marc Khorey, the project manager, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We are thrilled to bring the enchanting spirit of Indonesia to Victoria through ‘Alun Alun.’ Join us in celebrating the vibrancy and warmth of Indonesia.”

‘Alun Alun’ is a testament to PPIA VIC’s commitment to providing a platform for Indonesian students to showcase their talents, strengthen bonds, and share the rich cultural heritage of Indonesia with the local community.

The event will be open to the public from 4 pm until 10 pm. Admission details will be available soon through our social media, allowing attendees to fully immerse themselves in the rich cultural offerings throughout the evening.
