The Indonesian community in Newcastle were delighted to have the Konsul Jenderal RI Bapak Yayan G.H. Mulyana and Ibu Irene officiate at their Christmas party last year. Bapak Yayan spoke encouraging words to the teachers and parents of children who attend the Indonesian School of Newcastle. He said that learning Bahasa Indonesia will become increasingly important for young Australians wishing to do business with an economy that is predicted to be the 6th largest in the world by 2030.
After listening to the children sing Christmas carols, the guests enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by community members, extended the season’s greetings to their friends and participated together in the popular dancing of poco poco.
