After a two-year hiatus because of the pandemic, PPIA Victoria is bringing back the glorious event of ALUN ALUN, with this year’s theme “Pesta Pora Pasar Malem”.
ALUN ALUN is a night market event that aims to promote Indonesian culture and its heritage through cultural performances, local Indonesian foods, and nostalgic fun games. The cultural festival will commence for two days, on Friday (29 July) and Saturday (30 July) at RMIT Alumni Courtyard/Old Melbourne Gaol.
The first day will feature fantastic performances such as Music Night brought to you by the Indonesian Consulate General in Victoria, exclusive performances from the Indonesian theatre production TEMU LAWAK, Gamelan concert, and performances from Jembatan Poetry Society, Sanggar Sang Penari, and Jawa Pitu (Dangdut).
The second day will introduce Angklung performance, dances from Widya Luvtari and Nauli Dancer,
a special Jazz Night session from The Crotz, and a special performance from the Indonesian duo, DISKORIA, where they will be bringing their iconic hit songs such as C.H.R.I.S.Y.E, Serenata Jiwa Lara, and your other favorite Indonesian songs.
Food and beverages served in Alun Alun are brought to you by local Indonesian restaurants and more that will surely remind you of home, featuring the likes of Kaki Lima, Dapurnya Bubu, Indoeats, and PBK Noodles.
